What is baptism all about?
The Bible clearly teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to Christ. Baptism allows a believer to communicate to the world their heart-felt commitment to Christ. People often have questions regarding baptism: Why should I be baptized? I’ve already been baptized. Do I have to do it again? Does it matter if someone is sprinkled or dunked?

At Forefront, we do baptism through immersion. That basically means that you’re going to get wet. All kinds of wet. All the way wet. Why? Because baptism represents the work of Jesus in your life: His death and burial … AND His new life!

You can also learn more about baptism and what scripture says about it by attending the first step of our Journey Track: Forefront Foundations. Baptism is a requirement to be a covenant member at Forefront Church.

Email Pastor Brett if you would like to be baptized on October 24.

If God has a perfect vision for our lives, why does spiritual growth seem so difficult? Our fall series has some intriguing answers to that question, and, in The Me I Want to Be, we will share our thoughts and God’s words in a straightforward and timely guide for living our best life. We’ll urge each one of us to recognize our brokenness, to understand that God is the project manager, and to follow God’s directions. We will also gauge our spiritual health and measure the gap between where we are now and where God intends us to be.

Our fall campaign will run every Sunday morning for 7 weeks. New LifeGroups will be forming just for this campaign - a great learning lab to further discuss and live out the concepts we’ll be looking at. Cost for the campaign is just $10 and includes John Ortberg’s book The Me I Want To Be, a journal, and an online spiritual assessment tool (Monvee.com) to help in your spiritual journey.

Join us for The Me I Want To Be beginning September 12, 2010.

Bear Creek K-8 School, Sundays at 10 & 11:30 a.m.

As the summer comes to a close, kids return to school, we all get back into our annual routines … and Forefront returns to our “home” at the Bear Creek K-8 School. Beginning August 15, Forefront will once again be meeting in the auditorium at the rear of the school, the Fort will overtake the main hallways, and the Sandbox will be tuck nicely back into it’s safe and secure surroundings.

Why did we move to begin with? Our friends over at the Red Rocks Community College wanted to set up a semi-permenant atmosphere for their campers … and what a great job they did! As they wrap up their summer camp, we’ll once again be able to share the space with them during the school year.

Thanks for being flexible Forefronters … the community is definitely watching!

August 15, 10 am, back at the Bear Creek K-8.

You can spend your time trying to make it all converge at one point - or flip it all upside down. It’s actually the way God designed life to work: center your life on Christ and let everything flow from that one relationship.

When: Sunday, July 4. Starts at 9am. Ends with a BBQ from noon to 1pm.

Where: meet behind the Bear Creek K-8 School

If you know of any projects in the BCK8 area, want to serve, or are interested in helping lead a team, please email the church office.

What is Servolution?

Servolution is a culture that is rumbling throughout the body of Christ - a revolutionary army of people ready to take up the mandate to Love God, Love Others, and to Change the World. We are actively pursuing the lost, the forgotten, and the poor to show them a God who is passionately in love with them. We stand ready with one heart, saying, “I will serve others and show them the hope they can have in Jesus.”

Why Serve?

We serve others for several simple reasons:

1) Jesus did. Our goal as Christians is to become more like Christ every day. As we study God’s Word, we learn about Jesus and the way He lived. Because Jesus loved people, He served them to show them that love (John 13). Our goal is the same, to serve people so they would also come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

2) The church and its purpose are best expressed outside its walls. We can’t sit inside and wait for the world to come to us. We’ve got to get out in our communities and show people that we care and that there’s a God who wants to heal them.

3) It’s a tangible expression of the love of God for lost humanity. Words can’t always fix our pain. People may know that God loves them, but maybe they haven’t ever experienced God’s love for them in a practical way. We can be a testimony to others of what God can do in their life!

4) It makes us irresistible to the world. When people see our genuine love for each other and others, they can’t help but be drawn to it. Many times, serving can be a way to start conversation with people and give us an opportunity to tell them about the cross.

5) It tears down barriers and opens hearts. A kind word goes a long way. You never know what someone may be going through. Handing them that bottle of water or a hot meal may be just what they need for God to soften their hearts and open their minds to hear about the truth.

Why Serve Together?

We can accomplish so much more for the Kingdom when we work together! Our impact is multiplied. 1 person can only serve so many but if we all work together we can serve tons more!

There is value in shared ideas. In a group setting, we can draw on each other’s gifts, talents and creativity to polish the original idea, making it even better and more effective in building God’s Kingdom.

Creates momentum and energy to move things forward. There is so much excitement when we all work together, accomplishing a similar goal. God designed us to be part of the body and this is the body at its best! Each part doing it’s job and moving forward with passion!

Unity proves the Gospel works. John 17:18-21 says, “Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth. I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one-as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. As we work together, we are living out God’s Word!

Some fancy leadership specialist once said, “you’ve got to fight off all the discouragement with at least 7 encouraging comments.” Wow, that’s a lot of discouragement to dig out from underneath. But, if we’re honest … we’ve all got our distractors.

In our May series, “Not a Nobody” we’re going to take a look at four characters from scriptures that aren’t even named, yet play a pivotal role in the story of God being revealed to all mankind. You don’t have to have your names in lights … be the starting role … or even be known. You just have to be you.

Join us Sundays in May as we look at other seemingly insignificant people that end up being some of the most important people ever.

We believe in you - but more importantly, God does. See you this Sunday at 10 or 11:30 am.

Maybe there’s a different way.

As ABC’s hit show LOST finishes its last season, we can see humanity under a microscope. We feel a bit isolated even when among friends, struggling to make relationships work and often feeling stranded and alone. This Easter at Forefront, we’re looking towards the One who can rescue us … giving us a fresh start:

April 4 (Easter Sunday - 9 & 11m)
Crash & Burn: Surviving the Wreckage of Pride
